They were both developed by coders in the enthusiast community who were fed up with the atrocious RGB control software imposed by Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Corsair, and Thermaltake. Armoury Crate may work for you but it is definitely burdening your system resources and is a problem waiting to happen.Ĭheck out OpenRGB or Signal RGB.
I have been through it with Aura, Armoury Crate, G.Skill RGB Utility, Corsair Link and iCue. They all have G.Skill RGB RAM in them, RGB fans, LED strips, etc. I have an Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard (X570), a Maximus X Hero WiFi (Z370), and an X99 Deluxe II (X99). I learned the hard way to never install Armoury Crate or Aura. The ROG forum has plenty of horror stories.
Many have ended up wiping their drive and reinstalling windows due to Armoury Crate and/or Aura problems. It’s a resource hog, adds several services that consume clock cycles and RAM, is difficult to uninstall, leaves junk in multiple locations, and is generally buggy.
